GLCYD Membership
Great Lakes Center for Youth Development (GLCYD) membership program
provides members access to discounts and scholarships for services offering
greater affordability, depending on an organization’s needs and capacity.
By becoming a member, we can serve you better and help you improve your
organization’s programs and effectiveness.
Current GLCYD
Members
Become a member of the GLCYD if your organization:
o Provides services or programs for youth and/or families
o Is committed to helping communities build healthy youth environments
o Is committed to continuously improving your capacity to serve your
customers
o Needs to stay updated on youth issues and research
o Wants to save money on services and trainings
Individuals can also become members of GLCYD and receive discounts
on training and our most recent information on youth development. (More

Organization Membership Benefits
o Discounted member rates for training services that
include one free GLCYD workshop. This benefit must
be used prior to your membership expiration date or will be forfeited.
No member benefit can be accumulated or carried over to a new membership
year.
o Access to scholarships for training and consulting services
in such areas of positive youth development, continuous improvement
and performance improvement (Organizational scholarships are
only available to members)
o Free review and recommendations for one funding proposal
each year
o Networking opportunities through attendance in regional
and local trainings and conferences.
o Two memberships for the price of one (or for a discount
from regular MNA rates) when you become a joint member of both
the Center and Michigan Nonprofit Association
o Special registration and exhibition rates for the
U.P. Nonprofit Conference
o Access to special member-only events and resources
o VIP access to the aggregate report of the
Search Institute Profiles of Student Life: Attitudes and Behaviors
survey of Marquette and Alger youth, and an orientation on how to interpret
the data, which can help youth-serving organizations and schools research
youth needs, prepare grant proposals, inform program decision, and train
new staff
o Free access to the GLCYD membership directory - a
contact list of other people and organizations working to make the U.P.
a great place for youth (available in 2008)

Joint Membership with the Center and Michigan Nonprofit Association
(MNA)
Experience even more benefits of membership when you join both GLCYD
and MNA. The Center is now partnering with MNA to provide northern Michigan
and the Upper Peninsula regional access to MNA services and benefits.
This partnership will give members access to all of the benefits of
GLCYD and MNA including a statewide bank of consultants, legislative
and policy updates, regional trainings and conferences, and much more.
For organizations with budgets up to $500,000, the rates are the same
for membership in both organizations. For organizations with greater
than $500,000 annual budgets, MNA has offered our members a discount
from regular membership rates.
Members of the Michigan Nonprofit Association receive the following
valuable benefits:
o Public Policy updates, alerts, and advocacy
o Educational and training opportunities at reduced rates
o Access to up-to-date information, including the MNA Links newsletter,
publications, referrals, MNA member-exclusive grants and awards, and
a dedicated staff ready to serve you
o Valuable discounts on long distance telephone service, director and
officer liability insurance, computer software and hardware, brand name
office products, and tax and payroll services. Members also have access
to Blue Cross/Blue Shield Health and Dental Insurance and discounts
on nonprofit publications.
