Workshop Fee: $35.00 per person
Co-sponsored by: Michigan State Housing Development Authority and the Governor’s Office of Community and Faith-Based Initiatives and Great Lakes Center for Youth Development

Date: June 30, 2008
Time: 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; 9:00 a.m. Registration and Continental Breakfast (Library doors open at 9:00 a.m.)

When a nonprofit is short on cash, their first instinct is often to "write a grant." It's not as easy as it appears... even if you have the world's best writer on staff, you will still fall short if you haven't strategically identified the right possible funders and/or haven't gathered the right (most compelling and relevant) data. There is much to be done before you actually start writing your grant!

This seminar will cover the basics: basic components of a proposal, case statement and other key documents; basic goal and objective development; and basic research strategies. Additionally, we will host a panel of local knowledge leaders to share key resources and recommended practices. Bring a good idea or immediate need to work on during the hands-on session of the seminar. Our goal is to prepare you for more effective use of your time, which should result in more money in the door!

Register online at www.mnaonline.org/workshops.asp#grant. Registration deadline is June26, 2008.
