Put the Youth Into Youth Recognition Award
The “Put the You into Youth” award was designed to promote Positive
Youth Development and help put youth at the top of the community agenda.
“Put the You into Youth” promotes the idea that everyone in the community
can and needs to help youth build assets.
It takes a village to raise healthy kids! We have learned this lesson
from Positive Youth Development and the study of the 40 Developmental
Assets. All young people need multiple caring adults in their lives
encouraging and supporting their efforts while being a positive role
model. Many adults also go above and beyond the call of duty by building
assets in youth every day, not because of their job, but because they
love young people! These are the heroes the “Put the You into Youth”
Awards want to recognize… asset-building champions who stand as role
models for other adults, too, because of their commitment to helping
youth develop positively. It isn’t always the big things these people
do, but the hundreds of little things, day after day to make kids feel
good about themselves and learn challenging lessons in life.
Please think about the people you know that are positively involved
in the lives of young people. Is there an adult or youth that stands
out in your mind for his or her positive youth development efforts?
Is there someone who works with your kids or is a volunteer for a youth
program that does just a great job of building youth’s assets?
Nominate that person or group for a “Put the Youth into Youth recognition
