Put the You Into Youth Recognition Award
What are “Put the You into Youth” Recognition Awards?
“Put the You into Youth” was designed to promote Positive Youth Development.
The award will recognize a person, group of persons, or an organization
for outstanding contribution to the positive development of youth through
asset building.
All young people need multiple caring adults in their lives to encourage
and support their efforts. Many adults also go above and beyond the
call of duty by building assets in youth every day, not because of their
job, but because they love young people! Winners of this award are asset-building
champions who stand as role models for youth and other adults. It isn’t
always the big things these people do, but the little things, day after
day to make kids feel good about themselves and learn challenging lessons
in life.
What is Positive Youth Development?
Positive youth development is the healthy development of youth through
relationships and opportunities they experience in a caring and empowering
environment. Positive youth development reflects our community’s way
of thinking about our youth … how we work with youth, how we value youth,
and how youth value themselves.
What are the Assets?
Assets are the building blocks that youth need to grow up healthy, competent,
and caring. Positive youth development makes the community healthier
by building a safe and supportive environment for our young people (Click
