The SOSY Program Workshops

We are offering a total of 8 workshops a month (2 per critical area of capacity building in 4 locations). In the Hancock and Sault Ste. Marie area, we will be holding workshops on both topics on the same day to reduce travel time for GLCYD and organizations. All praticipating organizations are required to attend 1 workshop in each of the 4 critical areas of capacity building workshops. In January, all organizations are required to attend the Assess and Improve Your Orvanizational Health workshop. In the months of February, March and April, the organizations can select which (or both) workshop(s) to attend. Assess and Improve Your Organizational Health* (Required)
You’ve probably set some goals on getting healthier yourself in 2010. Shouldn’t you do the same for your organization? This workshop is designed to help you accurately determine where organizational gaps exist – based on sound nonprofit practice instead of well-meaning opinion or reactions to immediate situations like funding shortfalls. Learn more about the recommended practices at the foundation of the organizational checklist, delve into nonprofit life cycles and find out how to prioritize your organizational needs for more effective planning.

Creating Collaborations That are More than Just a Nice Idea
There’s a buzz these days about the importance of collaboration and strategic alliances. Funders like it. It helps eliminate redundancy. It promotes efficient use of limited resources. But too often our collaborative groups seem like a place where lots of good ideas are discussed but little is done to act upon those ideas. This workshop is designed to build participants’ understanding of the importance of collaboration, collaboration in fund development and moving beyond collaborative vision to a powerhouse of results.
