Nonprofit leaders, staff, volunteers and board members in attendance at this year’s U.P. Nonprofit Conference will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of workshops designed to create a lasting impact in their communities.
The 2016 U.P. Nonprofit Conference will take place Thursday, October 13, at Northern Michigan University. This year’s theme is “Build U.P.”
The conference features 12 workshops include sessions focused on strategic planning, fundraising, human resources and more. There is also a keynote speaker, the presentation of the U.P. Service Awards and networking time.
Nonprofit organizations can fall into the trap of thinking “We need to raise more funds, lets have an event!”. In Wicked: Grants, Events, and Mailings… OH MY!, Kori Tossava, Executive Director of UPAWS, will help workshop attendees develop an annual fund development plan that will incorporate all aspects of giving. This session will be specifically tailored to small nonprofits.
In Effective Human Resources on a Shoestring Budget, Laura Reilly, Attorney at Kendricks, Bordeau, Adamini, Greenlee & Keefe, P.C. will share tools to set up an HR “department of one” on a small budget, and highlight matters of special import to nonprofits.
Dave Bonsall and Rachel Harris, Consultants with Simply Superor Consulting, will host Strategic Planning that Sizzles! In this workshop participants will learn about a unique, positive approach to strategic planning that results in a bold, innovative, achievable plan that will have an impact, build support with all stakeholders, and bring a renewed sense of energy, commitment and enthusiasm to organizations.
