Nonprofit leaders, staff, volunteers and board members in attendance at this year’s U.P. Nonprofit Conference will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of workshops designed to create a lasting impact in their communities.
The 2017 U.P. Nonprofit Conference will take place Thursday, October 12, at Northern Michigan University.
The conference features 15 workshops include sessions focused on strategic planning, fundraising, governance and more. There are also openign and closing keynote presentations, the presentation of the U.P. Service Awards and networking time.
Kristin Beck from Northern Michigan University’s Grants and Contracts office will cover An Overview of Grants. This workshop will cover finding, writing, applying for and reporting on grants.
In Following the $$$ in the Nonprofit Corporation, Tami Seavoy and Patricia Davis, Attorneys at Kendricks, Bordeau, Adamini, Greenlee & Keefe, P.C. will discuss the importance of monitoring the nonprofit’s source of funding, defining unrelated business taxable income, and this issues that may arise when nonprofit engage in business enterprises.
Nicole Fende, ASA, the Number’s Whisperer will host Gamify to Atrace, Retain and Nurture Volunteers. In this workshop participants will learn the basics of gamification, how to select the best framework for your volunteer program and common pitfalls to implementation.
